WHO AM I

I started my career as a lawyer at Holland Van Gijzen / EY Law in March 2000. Prior to that I used to work at a software company, where I conducted commercial as well as legal work activities. During this period I was introduced to the legal aspects of ICT, with respect to software development as well as with respect to the implementation thereof.

I operate an independent practice since 1 April 2005 and I work as an interim legal counsel since December 2005. For a period of five years I assisted a significant sports brand in connection with various areas of law, among others trademark law and general contract law. Since several years I provide advice to an umbrella organisation of travel agencies. I currently work as an interim legal counsel at Solvay Pharmaceuticals in Weesp.

I have extensive experience in and knowledge of general corporate law, company law, ICT law and intellectual property law. I assist clients drafting and negotiating agreements, such as license, agency, distribution, franchise, ICT, e-commerce, know-how and R&D agreements, general terms and conditions and I also provide advice and conduct proceedings in case of failed automation routes. In addition I provide advice and conduct proceedings in the area of the protection of trademarks, models, patents, trade names, data, software, know-how, domain names, privacy and works protected by virtue of intellectual property rights, such as software and advertisements.

During my employment at Holland Van Gijzen I was closely involved in international projects, in particular with regards to the civil aspects of license and distribution structures as well as with regards to e-commerce. These projects were in particular characterised by the diversity of the various disciplines. Consequently I collaborated closely with accountants and tax specialists. Instantly after my graduation I worked at an outsourcing company where I acquired knowledge of the outsourcing practice.
